Gliese 581 is a star about 20 light-years from Earth in the constellation of Libra. There also is supposed to be an exoplanet called Gliese 581 g orbiting the star, and which is believed that can host life similar to that on Earth. With hour technology the travel to that planet would take not less than 300000 years…
In May I started to compose chillout music in my free time just for fun… Ok, is more than just for fun, but about this maybe later. Since than I have composed 4 peaces Melting Point, Night Travel, The Girl from La Defence, and the last The Awakening. I published them on Jamendo.com, and Jamendo says that since than I have 1044 listens and 42 downloads. I expected worse than that, and is strange, and sincerely I am still skeptical about this statistics. But, ok, if they say so… it encourages me. 🙂
Now I am working on the next piece, I finished the general idea and almost the structure, but it will take time since now I really want to polish, to do better mixing, better effects, etc. I don’t know how it will be the final result, but I like that at least now I do chillout, since I was disappointed that I am deviating into something that is not what I want to do.
During this time I learned a lot of things about music, sound, and mixing… I didn’t know that it is really interesting, never new about these things. 🙂
Just reworked a little my first piece “Melting Point” written with LMMS. First time used the sound compressor. So, what is compressor? A compressor is a sound processor that starts to work when the sound level is greater that a threshold, i.e. it will decrease the sound starting from this point, and at the same time leaving the quiet sound unaffected… so, I am trying to understand its real usefulness… i.e. when to use it and when not.
I am happy to announce my new piece called “The Girl from La Defence”. This time I have learned a little more about LMMS and started to use better the synthesizer. I have compiled the LMMS from the last master commit, and it now supports copy multiple selected tracks. I sill have problems with finding good strings, but I don’t know… we will see.
